What do I need?

Firstly, PLEASE DO NOT BUY ANY EQUIPMENT (even though it is very tempting). There is no need to buy any equipment to try archery. The club has all the bows, arrows and safety equipment you need to see you through your beginners course.

We would recommend that footwear should be sensible and that you do not wear sandals, flip-flops or other open-toed shoes. Avoid any loose or baggy clothing on your upper body and long hair should be tied back, this is to avoid any string or bow contact. When we are outside, a waterproof coat to slip on might be useful as we shoot in all weathers.

After you have completed your beginners course, and you wish to continue as a member of our club, it is wise to speak to your coach to obtain the best and most practical equipment for your money and needs. It can be a VERY expensive mistake to buy what you like the look of, or the bow that looks good on a picture on the internet. Your needs will change very quickly as you get stronger or even change your mind as to what sort of bow to shoot, so it is best to wait, get some advice and choose wisely.
