Joining the Club

So now you have read a bit about archery, and decided that you would like to have a go – what next?

It is a pre-requisite of joining an archery club that you do a beginners course. This gives you a basic understanding of shooting technique, safety and enables you to experience different types of bow styles.

Some of the topics covered include:

Equipment
Bow set up and bow selection
Safety equipment such as arm guards and finger tabs.
Which is your dominant eye and what that means for your archery
Arrow selection
Safety
Shooting line rules and etiquette
Whistles/commands
Safety orders
Arrow collection
Shooting
Standing
Nocking
Drawing
Aiming
Loosing
Introduction to different bow styles and opportunity to try them.
Scoring, different rounds and fun shoots and competitions.

What is the cost of the beginners course?

Currently the course is held over four weeks x two hour sessions and is dependent on numbers wishing to attend. The course currently costs £40 and £35 for under 18 and covers insurance and use of all the club’s equipment.
