| About
Us
In 1985,
the Founders of the club, a past Chairman, Jack Trigg, and Secretary,
Sheila Trigg, of Hertfordshire Archery Association, having moved
to Cheshire, decided to bring archery to the Crewe and Nantwich
area. So the Bow Men of Crewe were formed.
Several venues were used
as shooting grounds, before settling at Greenbank Farm, Shavington,
from which the club has taken its current name, Greenbank Company
of Archers. A building on the farm was used for the club house,
and roosting in the eaves was a barn owl. The owl was given the
name ‘Ollie’ by the members at the time and this is
where the emblem of the club originates from.
The club are now shooting
in a field near Sandbach in the summer and in a Leisure Centre in
the winter. See our "Shooting Grounds" page for more information.
The sport is open to
everyone from ten years upwards, with no upper limit, and the club
has a long history of being able to support Archers with disabilities.
Our members have a wide
range of ability from complete beginners up to archers who shoot
in competition. We welcome new members and have a variety of beginner’s
equipment for you to use and experienced members are always happy
to offer instruction and advice. The club is a happy one with much
laughter and leg-pulling, but we all take the shooting seriously.
The Club has one Qualified
Coach, two Level 1 Coaches, and five Archery Leaders to help you
with your archery.
Experienced archers should
contact the Club Secretary for further information. Beginners looking
to take up the sport will need to attend the introductory course.
Please view the Advice for Beginners for further information.
We look forward to seeing
you soon.
